According to California Construction magazine, “…2010 construction is expected to climb 11% to $466.2 billion, following the 25% decline predicted for 2009.

Reed Construction Forecasts increase in Non-Residential Construction over Next 12 Months

Reed Construction Data announced on January 28, “… the volume of nonresidential building construction is expected to expand in the next twelve months. This is based on the RCD/RSMeans Commercial Construction Expansion Index calculated from Reed’s proprietary database.”

“The RCD/RSMeans Expansion Index is a one-year 'look ahead' at the construction marketplace at the local market level. It indicates whether a location’s construction volume is projected to expand or shrink in the upcoming twelve months.”

Nearly 90 Percent of Contractors Say Industry Will Not Recover in 2010

The Associated General Contractors of America released a construction industry outlook on January 20, 2010 that finds, “ the stimulus the lone bright spot in an industry where nine in ten contractors say there will be no recovery in 2010. The survey of AGC members also found that fewer contractors plan to purchase construction equipment and doubt they will be able to hire new staff this year.”
